Taking Flight | National Children's Chorus

Conductor Shavon Lloyd leads the New York ensembles of the GRAMMY Award-winning National Children's Chorus in Taking Flight at Carnegie Hall. Bringing together more than 500 young singers from across the country, the concert explores themes of transformation and hope through works by Joseph Haydn, Charles Villiers Stanford, Stephen Schwartz, Kim Andre Arnesen, and the world premiere of a new composition by student composer Kiran Subramanian. Conducted alongside the NCC artistic team, Lloyd helps showcase the extraordinary artistry and potential of the nation's next generation of choral musicians.

Baritone Shavon Lloyd returns to Carnegie Hall as the featured baritone soloist with The Cecilia Chorus of New York in a program exploring themes of conflict, faith, and hope. Lloyd performs in Mark Buller's Mass in Exile and joins the solo quartet for excerpts from Haydn's monumental Mass in Time of War (Missa in tempore belli), alongside the world premiere of Robert Sirota's A Call for the Battle to Cease. Conducted by Mark Shapiro, the concert brings together chorus, orchestra, and distinguished soloists for an evening of profound and timely choral music.
